The Chinese Formula Xiao Qing Long Tang, also known in English as Minor Blue Dragon Combination, belongs to the category of formulas that RELIEVE SURFACE COLD WIND, acting on syndromes of Superficial Syndrome due to Cold Wind with or without Cold Phlegm, accompanied or not by Asthma.
Indication: Recommended to disperse (expel) Cold Wind affecting the Surface (Wei Qi), with or without the presence of white, fluid (cold) Phlegm in the Lungs. Viral infections: URIs/Bronchitis/Asthma.
Actions: Promote sweating to relieve the surface and disperse the exogenous pathogen Cold Wind; relieve runny nose, shortness of breath, cough, asthma; warm and circulate Lung Qi; dry dampness; eliminate fluid Phlegm (Cold Tan Yin).
Syndromes: Superficial Syndrome due to Cold Wind with or without Cold Phlegm, accompanied or not by Asthma.
Symptoms and signs: Fever, aversion to cold, lack of sweating, asthma, dyspnea, wheezing, chest oppression, runny nose, cough with clear, viscous, abundant sputum, edema above the waist.
