The Chinese Formula Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang, also known in English as Ma Huang and Apricot Seed Combination, belongs to the category of formulas that RELIEVE SUPERFICIAL WIND-HEAT, acting on syndromes of Internalization of the External Pathogen with Retention of Heat in the Lung; Presence of Heat in the Lung with or without the presence of an External Pathogen—accompanied or not by Bronchospasms.
Indication: Indicated for Lung Heat whether or not resulting from a Superficial Syndrome: Cough with green and/or yellow phlegm accompanied or not by Bronchospasms (Pneumonia, Bronchopneumonia).
Actions: Circulate Lung Qi; Suppress Cough and Asthma; Clear Lung Heat; Relieve the Exterior; Eliminate External Pathogens.
Syndromes: Internalization of the External Pathogen with Retention of Heat in the Lung; Presence of Heat in the Lung with or without the presence of an External Pathogen—accompanied or not by Bronchospasms.
Symptoms and Signs: Fever, slight aversion to cold, dry mouth and throat, intense thirst, cough with phlegm.
